The main find in the excavations undertaken
next to the AVE Station is Emperor Herculeus’
colossal palatine complex (3rd-4th centuries
AD) covering almost 10,000m2, it is distributed
around a semicircular crypto-portico with
a semi-subterranean gallery with a series of
palace services. The audience room, next to
the private baths, lies on the complex’s axis.
