In Tiberiades square there is a bronze sculpture of Mose ben Maimon, Maimonides, the work of the sculptor Amadeo Ruiz Olmos. Maimónides was a doctor, philosopher and a codifier of Jewish law. Many believe he was the most illustrious Jew since Moses – according to a Hebrew saying “From Moses to Moses, there was no one like Moses” (the first Moses being the one from the book of Exodus, the second being Maimonides).
The square is named after Tiberiades the town in Galilee (Palestine) where Maimonides’ cenotaph is located.
