These are two monumental mausoleums, 13 m in diameter, built during the reign of Tiberius (AD 15-30). The size of the mausoleums indicates that they belonged to important families in the city. The style of the tumuli imitates the Augustan model in Rome. At the time they were built, they were located outside the city walls, following the Roman custom of placing necropolises outside the city walls and along the main roads.
They were discovered in 1993 and underwent intensive reconstruction following the original patterns. The best-preserved one was intended for a single person; the other, on the other hand, given the larger size of the burial chamber, could have been built for several people, possibly all members of the same family related to the other mausoleum.
